FCC #6 "LET FREEDOM RING"

Hello my bloggy friends!
Welcome to another Funday Friday Challenge.

Today is a very special day as it is my niece's 6th birthday
and our 6th Funday Friday Challenge!
But seriously, where on earth did June go? I feel like I blinked and it was over.
But ya know what? Next week is one of my favorite times of the year, Independence Day. The summer sun beating down, the smells of BBQ cooking in the air, hearing kids' laughter with splashes hitting the pool and most importantly...our freedom to do it all!
 So with that being said...

This week's Challenge:
"Let Freedom Ring"
Create a card, layout or project for the 4th of July or showing us your
Red, White & Blue!
*One lucky winner will be selected via random.org for a Guest Designer spot for August!*
Starts: Friday, June 28th 12:00AM
Ends: Friday, July 5th 6:00PM
(central time)

*NOTE*
CHALLENGE RULES UPDATE
We have now changed the challenge rules to 3 entries per person per challenge except for the Anything Goes challenges which will be unlimited.

Here is what I created this week for the challenge

For this challenge, I decided I wanted to create a tag. I forgot how fun they were to make! I cut out my tag using my Elegant Edges cricut cartridge and cut out the "burst" cut on oblong at 4" out of some blue CS from Recollections that had already been decorated with artist spackle. I cut a second "burst" out on oblong at 4 1/4" out of red CS from Bazzill. Speaking of artist spackle, I took my Flower Frenzy template by The Crafter's Workshop, layered it on top of my blue CS and spread my artist spackle over it. Once the template was covered with the spackle, I lifted it up and then let my CS dry. It gives a raised finish, kinda like embossing only a bit higher.

I then took my Lobster glimmer mist and lightly sprayed it over the top of my stencil to bring in some red splats. I took my white sakura pen and outlined some of the flowers and added in some dots. I took some white DIY Thickers to say "4th" and very carefully glittered each one up using red, white and blue glitter from Glitz. I also used some scor-tape under the "burst" and peeled it up little by little to glitter underneath it so that the burst was also red, white and blue.
To finish off my tag, I cut out some stars from an old cm punch, glittered them as well and popped the white and blue one up on foam tape for some dimension. I decided to also add a few silver sequins and some red and blue twine tied off at the top of the tag. Here is a close up of the "burst".

Well that is my tag my friends.
I plan on using this for a July 4th scrapbook layout.
I am also having a little giveaway~
How would you like to win this same cute flower frenzy template that I used on my tag?

All you have to do is submit one question using the "Ask Jo" tab at the top of my blog and you will be entered to win! Easy Peasy! I will announce the winner on Friday, July 5th.

Guest Designer Chari Moss

Hello my friends!
Today I am super excited to be able to say that the very sweet and talented Chari Moss said 'yes' to me when I asked her to be a guest designer here on the blog! Oh gosh that almost sounded like I proposed and she accepted huh? LOL  Chari dedicates a huge part of her time designing for one of my very favorite stamp companies, Lawn Fawn.

Lawn Fawn has been a very dear and special company to my heart since the day they opened their doors. I've enjoyed all the wonderful and sweet emails from Kelly Marie to the cute smiley faces and sweet messages from her hubby Mike when I receive my orders, so with them sponsoring our weekly Funday Friday challenge this week, it almost makes for a perfect love marriage with
having ♥ Chari ♥ here today with us.

Meet

Her personality is fun! Her work is amazing!
Just check out this adorable fox card she made in honor of critter week.

This card uses all Lawn Fawn stamps. That adorable fox and his log, along with the cute mushrooms come from the Critters in the Forest set. The vine of leaves comes from Blissful Botanicals, the sentiment came from the Happy Everything set  and the cute message bubble comes from A Birdie told me.  It also looks like she used the Chevron backdrops border set to create that soft subtle chevron pattern on the "hill". She finished off this adorable card with what looks like some lemon lawn trimmings and if its not LF's twine, then I just showed you either way what their twine looks like! LOL  Gotta love me for promoting for one of my favorite companies!!
On a serious note, THANK YOU CHARI! It's truly been an honor!

To see more of Chari's amazing work, stop on by her blog at MossyMade. You will surely be inspired! She has everything from cards, mini albums, layouts, altered art and more! Please show her some love by leaving her some bloggy comments and make sure you become a follower of hers so you do not miss out on her amazing work and then be sure to go and stop by the Lawn Fawn Blog to thank them for sponsoring this week's challenge! As a reminder, they are giving one lucky challenge winner a stamp set of their choice! What stamp set would you choose if you were the lucky winner? Would it be this cute adorable fox with his forest friends?

Well my friends that's it for today!
Until next time......
Enjoy life's blessings~

Craft Room Tour Part 1

Hello Friends!
Many of you have asked me about my craft room and how I organize and store all of my supplies. So I have decided to do a craft room tour video series for ya'll. I have a very SMALL room for my crafting space and it is very cramped and cluttered to say the least. I am sure that is the case with many of you as well however; I have made the best of my space and did what works for me best.
In this first video, I give you a glimpse of the room and I show you my workspace desk where I create. I apologize in advance for the poor filming quality. The lighting in my room is not the greatest and I am new to doing videos so needless to say, my video is not the work of an expert LOL. In any case, grab a cup of your favorite iced beverage or a hot cup of Joe and I hope you enjoy it!

Until next time......
Enjoy life's blessings~

Talk Time Tuesday with Ask Jo~

Hello my crafty friends!
Welcome to another Talk Time Tuesday!

Before I get to the Q&A's, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to a very special follower, Tina from Denami Addict. Tina awarded me with an award which you can read about Here but I wanted to post what sweet words she had to say about me and my blog which made me feel pretty darn good! In Tina's words, "Jo from Jo's Scrap Shack. There's always A LOT going on over on Jo's blog! Inspiration, challenges, giveaways, shopping...I have no clue how she keeps up with it all...I'm in awe!!"
So thank you Tina and I appreciate your kind words very much. This is why I continue to try and bring fun challenges and features to my blog for you all, because if I am making at least one of you happy, then I am doing something right!

Okay so now onto our Ask Jo segment. Our first question comes from Migdalia R. who asks, "So tell me are you going to buy a Silhouette or continue to use Pazzles? Is there a different besides the files?"
Hi Migdalia!
The answer is no, no and with a capital N, No... I will not be jumping on the cameo bandwagon and purchasing a machine. As intriguing as the Silhouette may be to many, my pazzles inspiration machine is way more intriguing and awesome! I will continue to use my Pazzles because truth be told, the Pazzles does more then the Cameo and it has been out long before the Cameo was thought of. There is a difference in what files both machines originally were designed to cut. The Silhouette was designed to cut SVG files and the pazzles was designed to cut WPC files however; the Pazzles can cut WPC, SVG, and AI files thanks to the Pazzles team with their continuous efforts in making changes to the software and providing us with updates. Now I can cut any SVG file that I want!
If you want a comparison on the two machines and to explain why I LOVE my pazzles,
 well here ya go!

Pazzles can cut up to 12x24" with additional cutting mat
Cameo can cut up to 12x12"

Pazzles new out of the box gives you 300 ready to cut images
Cameo new out of the box gives you 51 ready to cut images

Pazzles has a craft room with a paid monthly membership that gives you:
  • Extensive Catalog of High Resolution Easy To Follow Video Tutorials
  • Massive Library of Pre-Designed Cuttable Images For Use With Pazzles Creative Cutters
  • Exclusive Help For Members From Talented Pazzles Designers
  • Amazing Projects With Recipes and Instructions
  • Member and Staff Photo Albums In Pazzles Albums
  • Community Forums
  • Exclusive Members Only Discount Store
  • and Klo's Classroom with FREE classes weekly, hundreds of archived class videos and free cut files from each class.

  • Cameo gives you an online store with files to purchase

Pazzles also has the ability to etch, distress, write with a pen, create rhinestones patterns and create your own stamps.

So while both machines are good investments, the Pazzles Inspiration does more and has been out longer and the Pazzles Team is always looking for new ways to update the software to allow pazzles users to get more from their machines. So hope this answers your question Migdalia! I hope to hear from you again soon!

Our next question comes from Dawn M. who asks, "How do we take a blinkie from one site and add it to our own?"

    Hi Dawn!
On most blogs like my own, there will be an html code under the blinkie. You will want to click on it and click copy. Once you are logged into your blogger account, click on settings and then go to "layout". Once you are in the layout screen, you will click on "add gadget". A box will pop up and you will want to scroll down the list of gadgets until you see "HTML/Text". Click on that and then a new box will open. Just paste the blinkie code inside this box and click save. That will put the blinkie on your sidebar usually at the top of your sidebar. You can then move it to wherever you want it on your sidebar. If a blinkie does NOT have a code underneath it, that means the blinkie was created with the code embedded inside it. So all you would do is right click on the blinkie and click on "save as" and save the blinkie to your computer(preferably your desktop) just like you would save a picture. Then repeat the steps once you are in blogger to add a gadget only this time, scroll through the gadgets until you see, "PICTURE/IMAGE" and click this one. This will allow you to search your computer for the blinkie and upload it like you would any other picture. Once you find the blinkie, click save and it will be on your sidebar at the top.
I hope this has helped you Dawn and I hope to hear from you again soon!

Well my friends, that's all I got for ya today. Until next week's Talk Time Tuesday
    Enjoy life's blessings~

    A sweet card & FFC 4 Winners

    Happy Monday my friends!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I spent a good portion of my weekend getting creative and filming so lots to share in the next couple weeks. Today I have a card that I want to share with you that I made for a special friend who is going through a lot right now. I sure hope she likes it when she gets it.

I made a standard A2 card using some gorgeous Cherry Red CS by Gina K Designs as my card base. For my first layer, I used some Winter Wisteria CS by Papertrey Ink cut down to 4 x 5 1/4". For my next layer, I used some Vintage cream CS also by PTI and cut down to 3 3/4"x 5. I stamped my sentiment,"Praying you through your most difficult moments" in momento tuxedo black ink onto the vintage cream CS. The sentiment stamp comes from the Poster Board Sentiments stamp set by Gina K Designs. I love this stamp set. It has a lot of great sentiments.

My image is a digital stamp by Whimsy Stamps called Tulip Umbrella that I colored in using my spectrum Noir markers and fussy cut out. Once my image was colored in, I added some glossy accents to the tulips and the to the bow for that extra little something. Both my image and the main layer were inked up around the edges using some peeled paint distress ink by Tim Holtz. To finish off my card I added some beautiful red polka dot ribbon from May Arts. Below is a picture of the inside sentiment "Only God", another Gina K stamp.

Well that is my card for you for today my friends. I hope you like it! Now on to announcing the winners of last week's "Anything Goes" challenge. Can you believe we had over 100 entries??? You all are so awesome and boy this was so hard with all those entries to search through. Each week our job gets harder and harder but we like the challenge and enjoy looking at all the gorgeous projects you all create so please continue to create and have fun with us each week. Next week we will be announcing the monthly winner for the month of June from our top 3 winners! And now onto last week's wins...

    FFC #5 "Critters"

    Hello my bloggy friends!
Welcome to another Funday Friday Challenge.

    This week's Challenge:
    "Critters"!!
    Show us your Critters!
Also we have a very special sponsor this week
    Lawn Fawn is sponsoring!
The sweet Kelly Marie is giving one lucky random
winner a stamp set of their choice!!!
    There is one rule:
If you have Lawn Fawn stamps, Please use them in your creation!
Lawn Fawn stamps are NOT required to participate but if you have them, use em'.
    Starts: Friday, June 21st 12:00AM
    Ends: Friday, June 28th 6:00PM
    (central time)

Here is what I created this week for the challenge

I created a standard A2 sized card using some kraft CS as my base. All my papers are from Daphne's Closet collection kit from Lawn Fawn. My first layer is a cute green/white pattern cut at 4x5 1/4". My next layer is a pretty soft blue diamond pattern cut at 3 3/4" x 5. On the other side of this paper is that cute arrow paper on the bottom which I cut out at 4x 1 3/4". Before I adhered that arrow pattern down, I used some of Lawn Fawn's goldenrod cord and wrapped it around a couple times for some added texture. I cut out a circle with my circle punch at 1" and created my own button out of that green/white pattern and threaded some more of that goldenrod cord through and tied it into a bow.

For my main focal image, I stamped out this cute polaroid picture frame from the Say Cheese stamp set. I stamped it on white CS from Bazzill and on that blue diamond pattern from the Daphne's Closet papers. I used Lawn Fawn's Say Cheese Lawn Cuts polaroid die to cut out my frame. I used some of the green/white pattern paper to create some grass. I cut it into a small strip and used my scissors to make slits for the grass. I adhered that to the inside of the blue frame. Then I took the two frames and adhered them together, interlocking one inside the other.

I stamped out a tree, giraffe and rhino from Lawn Fawn's Critters on the Savanna stamp set, colored them in with my copics and then cut them out using the Critters on the Savanna Lawn Cuts dies. I love these new dies that Lawn Fawn has come out with! They make projects like this one so easy to make! The only image that I had to fussy cut was the tree. They don't have a die for that. The clouds were cut out using the Sunny Skies Lawn Cuts dies. I took my B00 copic to outline the clouds and the rhino's horn and then added a bit of glitter using my sakura glitter pen. The cute sentiment "You make me smile" comes from Lawn Fawn's Hello Friend stamp set which was inked up with momento tuxedo black ink. I started building my scene by adhering the clouds to the back of the frame first. Then I added the rhino to the grass, then the giraffe and finally the tree. The entire frame and scene is on some foam tape.I love how this scene turned out! It's soooo cute! Don't ya think?

To finish off my card, I took my sakura glitter pen again and added "dots" of glitter to the middles of  where the diamonds meet on the blue frame. I love this as that frame really looks awesome! I also colored in the white frame with the glitter pen. Below is a picture of the finished inside of the card which has another sentiment from the "Hello Friend" stamp set and another little "scene" using more images from the Critters on the savanna stamp set.  I went back to add some Mint Satin Sequins from Neat & Tangled.

Well that is my card for ya for today so let's see what the design team has created. Now keep in mind that not everyone had Lawn Fawn stamps so they created their own cute creations with whatever critters they did have! And boy are they cute!!!

Talk Time Tuesday with Ask Jo~

Click here for FCC#4 "Anything Goes"

Hello my friends and welcome to another Talk Time Tuesday and Ask Jo segment!

Our first question today comes from April L. who asks, "What is one of the newest products out in the paper-crafting industry that has your eye?"

    Hi April!
Wow this is a great question! I have to admit there are so many wonderful and great new products that have caught my eye recently. Yikes! I wish I could name them all LOL but if I must pick at least just one, I would have to say that I have been intrigued by the new Life Style Crafts products. I must say that i'm totally in love with their Sticky thumb adhesive runner right now. My favorite adhesive runner has always been Tombow until now. The sticky thumb runner is 26 feet of clear, very tacky adhesive that seems to have the quality strength of scor-tape. It is acid free and very reasonable in price. The runner is selling for $2.99 with their refills also being $2.99 for a 2 pack! I guess I love this runner so much because of the strength in the tackiness of the adhesive as well as how easy this runner is to use and refill. This is definitely a product that everyone should have! Thank you for your question April and I hope to hear from you again soon!

Our next question comes from Brenda L. who asks, "Jo where do you get your cut files from for the Pazzle? Can any cut file be used?? Like an SVG file??"

    Hello again Brenda!
Gosh this is an excellent question because not a lot of people know much about the Pazzles Inspiration machine or its capabilities.I reviewed this machine last month which you can read more about here. The pazzles can cut files in WPC, AI, and SVG formats. Most of my cut files have come from the Pazzles Craft Room however; I've also purchased cut files from some of my favorite cutting file stores such as Kadoodle Bug Designs, Lori Whitlock's Shop, Kerri Bradford Studio, Little Scraps of Heaven Designs, Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons and Miss Kate Cuttables. Each one of these shops have some adorable and unique cutting file creations with very reasonable prices and lots of freebies. I have also created and designed a good portion of my own cut files using my design software. It was good to hear from you again Brenda and I look forward to hearing from you again real soon!

Well my friends, that wraps up another Talk Time Tuesday with yours truly. Please continue to support this feature of the blog by submitting your questions each week. For all my new followers, this is a feature that I do every Tuesday and if there are any particular questions you would like answered, (paper crafting related or just general information) just submit your questions by clicking on the "Ask Jo" tab at the top of my blog page. I look forward to hearing from you so keep the questions coming!

    Until next week,
    Enjoy life's blessings~

Click Here for Cardz TV "Love in a Jar" Challenge
    Hello my bloggy friends!
Welcome to another Funday Friday Challenge.

    This week's Challenge:
    Anything Goes!!!!
    Starts: Friday, June 14th 12:00AM
    Ends: Friday, June 21st 6:00PM
    (central time)

Here is what I created this week for the challenge

This is the first layout that I've created in some time. I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I started off with a piece of chocolate CS from Bazzill as my background paper. I added a piece of 8" by 8" piece of chevron paper from the 3 Birds Foundations Stack that was showcased on HSN. The photo is of my daughter and I from back in 2008. I matted my photo onto two different layers of some gorgeous papers from Basic Grey. I used some washi tapes to pull out colors from my photo and arranged an embellishment cluster up in the upper left corner. I also did the same for under my photo but cut the ends into banners. Another piece of washi tape accents the bottom right of the photo. The accent CS sticker in the lower left hand corner(red/white/brown border) that says, "The family that plays together, stays together" is from Adorn It's, "Family Moments" stickers.

The yellow border and brown polka dot scalloped border are cardstock element stickers from Carta Bella's "Happy Little Moments" collection. I love this collection! The colors are all soft shades of yellow, blue, brown and neutrals. Most of the elements on my layout are from this sticker elements sheet. The 3"x4" journal tag is from the Jillibean Soup's Coconut Lime "Bite sized bits" collection. I chose this because of the title "A beautiful day" as the photo was taken at my daughter's birthday party and it was indeed a beautiful day. I also liked how it tied up all the colors in the layout.

I decided to add some faux stitching around some of the elements and chevron paper. I thought about using my sewing machine but everything was stuck down already and I did not want to mess with it so I just did the faux stitching instead.  My layout title, "My Mini Me" was created using some of the CS stickers from the Carta Bella element sticker collection. I used my ebosser and die cut some chevron arrow bits and some Rosebud Flowers to use for around the page. Overall, I like how this layout turned out. Thanks for looking!

Now let's have a look at what our talented design team has created for you!
